2 flats of strawberries... $32
6 bags (5 lbs ea.) of sugar...$14
16 boxes of pectin...$32
Enough strawberry freezer jam to last us the whole first year in Idaho...PRICELESS!!!
But just so you know, I now have realized we eat an obscene amount of jam...see for yourself:
Strawberries + a dedicated helper =
Not enough room in the freezer...
At two he's climbing fences.
Hanging out with Mom all day isn't the same as playing outside all day but it's not all bad.
Showering Tyler with love AND toys...
Family reunions are the best. Here is featured one of my FAVORITE talent show acts yet. At age 8 Ella unveiled her talent of singing her self-written Opera summary of ALL the Star Wars movies, complete with cardboard costume. We couldn't help but smile. Really, she sang it opera style. Very impressive. :)
And what's a catch-up post without a tribute to the parallel parking King. Well-done Carl! ;)

I am very impressed that you had time to make jam with a move two weeks away, a 2-year old, and a newborn. I was just thinking I needed to get some jam made and was wondering how I'd manage. You've inspired me. It is doable, right? :)
You just put my double batch of strawberry jam to definite shame!
And I love the fact that one of you took a picture of the perfect //parking job...
Wish I were there to help repay the packing help! Good luck!
Wow, yum, strawberries. Nothing better than "real" (not old, crusty, driven out of CA, ALL THE WAY to the midwest) California strawberries. Really, you're making me drool for jam. Thanks Kristen. Now, how exactly are you going to get them to ID? A refrigerated truck?:) I have a funny picture in my head of all you Gaufins driving, holding your own personal jars of jam, licking handfuls of jam with pretty strawberried faces. Kinda Pooh-like, but instead of honey...it's jam!:)
How did you find time to make jam? Man, I'm struggling with Lily just discovering the world of crawling. Can't wait to see you!
Ok, before people get the wrong idea thinking I have managed to create a 25th hour in the day, freezer jam is a cinch and only takes about an hour and half per flat if you do the whole flat. That and my amazing mother came over for the first one to help negotiate the 2 year old and the newbie. :)
wow you guys really like your jam. You should start a jam blog. All jam, all of the time.
Hey, good luck with your move! Glad it's not me! :)
Look like you've been busy! Good luck with the move to ID!
you've inspired me to try making this famous freezer jam i've heard so much about...i'm picking up strawberries and pectin next shopping trip!
