Domestic Engineer...Sewing 101

I've had my sewing machine for probably 5 years and I've probably used it that many times. But that is all about to change. As I continue to pursue my Masters degree in Domestic Engineering, I've decided to take Sewing 101 this semester.
I started with a curtain project. Connor & Tyler's window faces the parking lot. It's louder than I'd prefer and the room gets warm during the day. I decided that not only would I make them curtains but that I would line the curtains with blackout lining as well. The curtains are square, how hard could it be? Well, I'm no Martha Stewart and as a result I have some "fixing" to do so I'm not quite finished but finished enough that we decided to hang them up. I was just thrilled they actually looked like curtains!

Connor, on the other hand, was far more impressed with Daddy's drill and the process of getting the curtain rod up than he was about the actual curtains...it's a tough job being the only girl in the house!

P.S. We went for a walk around the temple on Sunday. It is green and gorgeous here.

Tyler actually stayed awake for all but the last 10 minutes! As evidenced in the picture, he's discovered the joy of fingers, although usually it's a whole-fisted effort.

I'm impressed with your first Sewing 101 project! You are far closer to your Domestic Engineering degree than I ;)

Yeay, we made it on your friends list... I love your curtains and hopefully someday will be able to sew myself. We are also envious of the whole Idaho move. We plan on moving to Boise my next summer and I know a bunch of Madera friends who live in that area would like a little reunion... Good luck with school Carl!!!!

I love all that green! Way to go, domestic queen! I've had my grandma's sewing machine for 5 years and the only thing I've done is have it serviced...
