Noooooooo!

So last year, for the first time in a few years, my mom, brother, & I gathered together for the project of making a MASSIVE amount of strawberry freezer jam. I grew up on the stuff and am pretty sure I could live on it. It is amazing in sandwiches, perfect on sundaes, and most delectable on hot buttered toast! Mmm! Knowing that Carl takes a couple of peanut butter sandwiches with him for lunch most days, I decided to double the amount I thought I would need and purchased an entire flat of beautiful strawberries. When we were done, I packed my freezer full of 2 quart jars, 3 or 4 cool whip containers, and a nice assortment of various-sized tupperware all filled to the brim with strawberry jam.

(Ok, technically this is someone else's batch of jam, but I didn't think to take a picture of my own until well after I was completely out!)

Surely this would last til next season. Surely. And yet, upon opening the freezer a week ago in search of more jam, what did I discover? We either have a jam thief on our hands (highly likely if they've tasted the stuff) OR we eat WAY more strawberry jam during the year than I ever though possible for a small family of 3 to consume. I fear the latter is the culprit and am currently mourning the fact that it will be another 4 or 5 months before my jam-making season comes upon me again. How could I have so misjudged? All I know is that I really need a bigger freezer!

Ya, I totally go through a ton of fruit freezer jam every year. Who'd want to eat store bought stuff when they can have homemade?! You need to branch out and make a fall variety too, that way you'll have enough for the whole year. Or come over and raid my freezer for some. :)

I hear ya sista! We have had something similar happening here at our house, only it's apple pie filling. I wish I could try some of your jam!

Same thing happened here. We were SO sad to find out that Dave got the last pbj several months ago. Bart was extra ticked when Dave ended up throwing it on the ground. THAT'S THE LAST OF THE JAM!! HOW COULD YOU!?

Bart keeps asking when it'll be strawberry season again. We'll have to have a jam making party.

YUM! I have a recipe for some that I didn't like the best. Post yours--I think it all has to do with the sugar content...the more the sugar the better?:) I sure miss those CA strawberries. We keep seeing some at the store and Justin asks me to buy them only to hear my response, "It is NOT strawberry season and those will NOT be good!":)
