As the Enrichment Leader in my ward, I felt particularly regretful about missing our last Enrichment night of the year however, my hands were tied. Carl's family has participated for years in the annual Madera Tractor Parade (ok, they probably refer to it as the "Christmas Parade" but us "city girls" as Carl often calls me in a rather disapproving tone find it quite entertaining that the bulk of the 10 minute parade is tractors covered in Christmas lights). Friends of Carl's family happen to run one of the tractors in the parade and extended the invitation again this year for the entire Gaufin family to join them in excitedly waving hello to all the people lining the streets of downtown Madera. Skeptical at first, can I just say it rocked!
Connor cried the first 10 minutes while we waited for the parade to start but quickly recovered when he realized he wasn't being left on the bales of hay on the tractor by himself and even managed to wave his cute little hand to everyone we passed. The parade itself was only about 6 blocks but I was impressed by the literally hundreds of people who showed up to watch. What a fun tradition.
So I'm so sorry to have missed doughnuts & hot chocolate with my girls in the ward BUT...if I had to miss it, I'm glad it was for something as cool as the Madera Christmas Parade.
For those of you still suspicious. Here's proof:
Ok this last one is actually a fire truck we passed while trying to find the right tractor.

Too Cute! I remember going to the Madera Tractor Parade. It wasn't too bad for a small town.
That first picture is AWESOME haha, Connor's face. We missed you too! Thanks for still swinging by at the end to help clean up, that was super sweet of you to do.
That is a really fun tradition! Marcos' family tradition is a similar parade in Old Town Clovis. I had my doubts at first also (kept calling it the Mayberry parade) but it is so fun and charming. Cute pics! :)
No way!!! That is so fun!! I love it and I bet it was a really great evening. Next you have to try going to a demolition derby! Now that is entertainment too! ;-)
okay, so i believe that you went to the parade and didn't skip out on us after all...
I LOVE small town tractor parades. I've never really thought of that before, but yes, they are mostly tractors and that is now what I will call them. :)
Sorry that we had to go all private on ya - I had some wierd comments from totally unknown-ers and since my blog is full of the boys, I didn't want to be blog-stalked or real stalked. I hope we can still be friends :) Let me know if the invite didn't go through and I'll send it again.
How fun! I don't think we city girls really appreciated parades all that much for some reason....it's something I've come to enjoy out here....well, during the summer when it's not 12 degrees outside like it feels right now anyway!:)
