Making Dollars with a little ‘Cents’

A success! As the Enrichment Leader in our ward, I am often plagued with the pressure of planning activities that people will a) want to come to and b) actually enjoy. Consequently, there is a LOT of time, planning, work & sweat that goes into each activity we plan. I couldn’t be more grateful for my tiny board who completely put in their fair share. Due to the overwhelming amounts of debt most of the country has put on their tab, including several members of the church, we put together a night dedicated to financial management. We even coordinated a nursery (thank you Valentine Ward!) and invited the men. At 7:00pm, I looked around at the 5 people waiting for our evening to begin and tried to ignore the nervous pit in my stomach reminding me we’d planned for 50-60 people to attend. Aside from monstrous amounts of leftover dessert, I was going to be wildly disappointed we hadn’t been able to capture the interest of our ward members. Thankfully it was all for naught. Running on “Mormon standard time”, by 7:10pm the room was filling fast and by the end of the evening we had a whopping 60 people. It was a lot of fun and there were some great ideas. Over the next couple weeks I will post all the tips and helps and info I've collected during this project. So be excited!
