Light Show

With the need for change itching, at 11:30pm last night I squirreled Carl into moving a couple of bookcases around that I'd already unloaded. We weren't in bed until well after midnight but all the same, I woke up this morning with crazy amounts of energy. Trying to get a good start on the day, I decided to get Connor's oatmeal going early so it would be cooled off enough when he got up. It was only seconds later I was met with a wild light show coming from my microwave. In this particular instance, ignorance was not bliss. I was afraid to approach the popping lights fearing the door will explode just as I arrived and so I was stuck, watching in horror from the living room. Carl appeared only moments later and I shrieked for him to stop the microwave before it blew up completely. Much more heroic than I, Carl scampered into the kitchen and punched the stop button. I was followed quickly after to survey the damage and as Carl stepped back to go back to getting ready for work, my voice rose another octave and I squealed, "it's on FIRE!" Carl stuck his head halfway in the microwave and blew and all was well again...well, except that now we need a new microwave. Truth be told, it's been a long time coming. What a way to go out though! :) And thankfully there were no casualties.

Wow! Lucky you for no one getting hurt. Like you said, pretty exciting for the way it went out.

Haha, it's true, it was an age-ed microwave, but unless Quaker has changed the way they make their oatmeal, it was just oats, water, and a glass bowl inside. :)
